Milton Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade

2018-2019 Fire Season

Permits to light a fire in the open are required from 1 September 2018 until 31 March 2019. See: Community Information, for more information, including exceptions. The end date may change depending on weather and conditions. Recent rains can significantly reduce the risk of bush fires - however, fast moving fires may still occur on dry and windy days, and residents are encouraged to maintain their vigilance and caution.

The NSW RFS makes decisions, including the start and end dates of local fire seasons, based on a wide ranging variety of research into factors including temperature and rainfall trends.

Milton Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade

Milton Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade is a New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) brigade located on the Australian East coast, almost due East of Canberra.

All members of the brigade are volunteers and train regularly to fight bush fires, grass fires, building and vehicle fires, supporting other agencies during emergencies, as well as attending motor vehicle accidents. We are also increasingly engaging with our local residents and community as community engagement is the key to a better informed and safer community.

We respond to a varying number of incidents per year in the brigade area, from North of Milton to the Burrill Lake region and inland. Milton Brigade also sends crews and units to incidents within the Shoalhaven district, wider New South Wales and sometimes interstate.
